My development experience includes C, C++, Visual Basic, Python and UNIX shell scripting. I have developed mainly on Microsoft Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris, and HP-UX. I am also adept at customization of existing solutions. For example, I have deployed customized versions of tinderbox, a developer tool to automate software build testing.

Automation

First and foremost, computers are tools; they are used to solve problems. Far too many people in the business world waste time doing the same task over and over again. Let the computer do the work for you! You might be surprised at how easily many common tasks can be automated. Here are a few examples I have done for myself:

• Eliminate spreadsheet lists with a custom database
• Generate software test builds

Ahh yes, everyone has a website. There are many gems out there, but plenty of rotten ones as well. The last thing your business needs is customers to be turned off because they can't read the text, dislike the appearance, or any other number of reasons. I can recommend changes, provide you with tools to improve it yourself, or even redesign it for you!

Most people have heard of "Free Software" and "Open Source", but did you know that it's great for business? Many people are surprised to learn that there are real, usable, totally free solutions out there that can save your business a lot of money.
