Ottawa Photos

From early 2001 to late 2002, I lived in the city of Ottawa. Ottawa is the capital of Canada, and in addition to being the seat of Canadian government, has an active high-tech community (the reason I was living there).

Ottawa's most famous tourist attraction is, of course, the Parliament buildings. They are an interesting bit of architecture, enhanced by the fact that Ottawa contains quite a mixture of architectural styles. The three main Parliament buildings can be seen here:

Every spring, the Netherlands send over lovely tulips to Canada as a gift, which make beautiful scenery along the Rideau Canal and, of course, at the Dutch Tulip Gardens.

Directly across the Ottawa River is Hull, which is located in Quebec. The most famous attraction here is the Museum of Civilization, which is the closest pair of buildings directly to the right of the bridge in this photo.

Hull includes the old town of Gatineau, whose skyline is clearly visible in this sunset photo.

Gatineau

Just north of Hull/Gatineau is Gatineau Park, which is a beautiful national park complete with hiking/biking/ski trails, campgrounds, and all sorts of other facilities. In fall, the trees are absolutely gorgeous!
