Photos of FranceMy side trip to France took me from Schipol (Amsterdam) to the Marseille airport. From there, an agent drove me to the customer's site, located in Carpentras, where I took this lovely shot. The center of the photo shows one of the products the company that I worked for manufactures, a ground-based solar tracking device called a Two Axis Positioner, or 2AP for short.
After solving the customer's problem, I had the rest of the weekend to spend on a mini-vacation. Cassis was recommended to me as a wonderful place to spend a weekend, which I did.
Cassis is right on the Mediterranean coastline, and has great weather even in November! This is definitely a vacation spot; fortunately, this is the off-season, which means that it was not overcrowded with tourists, and was quite a peaceful, relaxed place to stay.
Fishing is the big industry along the southern coastline of France, but here, recreational boating is also a very big pastime.
This area of France is very mountainous, with rocky terrain jutting right out into the sea. These formations are called calanques, and they are great for fishing from, hiking around, or even "mini-mountain" climbing!
Tranquil spots where you can sit and enjoy nature at its best definitely made this mini- vacation worth the time.
